From starch (composed of carbohydrates with greater molecular complexity), found in cereal feedstocks, like maize (corn), wheat and barley, alcohol and different vinasses are produced, with high concentrations of COD, total nitrogen, and phosphorus and sulphates.
Grapes (wines, cognac), agave (tequila) and sweet sorghum (sucrose) have also high levels of COD in their vinasses, but important differences among other parameters, such as total nitrogen, phosphorus, sulphates and potassium.
