The fruit juice industry typically uses concentrate and therefore often requires lower treatment volumes. However, as well as moderate to high organic concentrations, this wastewater may often contain low levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, sulphates, chlorides, oils and fats. Since this is a favourable relationship between COD/BOD5, we can usually call upon biological processes with high efficiencies for this purpose.
