Wastewater from jelly factories generally contains low levels of organic matter, as well as moderate levels of suspended solids, nitrogen and sulphates, this latter matter being introduced thanks to the use of sulphuric acid in the production process.
Sulphates subjected to anaerobic processes are transformed into hydrogen sulphide (H2S), which at certain dose levels can both inhibit the required bacteria growth and produce undesirable odour, as well as corrosion on the materials of the process equipment.
Biological processes using the BIOTECS AnUpt-SB anaerobic reactor are recommended and applied by BIOTECS with a proven success record in treating these kinds of industrial wastewaters.
