The wide variety of products manufactured and supplied by the dairy industry in general includes whole milk, as well as butter, cheese, dairy desserts, yoghurt in addition to juices and ice cream.
Most of the wastewaters coming from these industries is rich in proteins, oils and fats (either free or in emulsion). These can negatively impact the efficient operation of BIOTECS AnUp↑-SB and BIOTHOL reactors thanks to the probability of a weak granulation of the anaerobic sludge, while the presence of calcium is likely to leave sediment on the mechanical parts (fouling), principally the wastewater distribution system installed at the bottom of the reactor.
