The continued growth of beverage consumption in the form of soft drink and beer has brought the need for construction of new factories, as well as expansion and development of existing ones.
The beverage industry is one of the major producers of industrial wastewater in volumes which can potentially have moderate impact on our environment.
That is why, for many years, specialists at BIOTECS have been dedicated to the development of new and advanced technologies to treat the many different types of wastewaters created by the beverage sector.
The majority of the solutions we have created were based on biological processes, with a particular focus on combi- ned anaerobic and aerobic systems in a wide variety of different configurations.
Soft drinks wastewaters are generally relatively poor in organic matter in sharp contrast to the raw wastewaters from breweries and beer production.
BIOTECS AnUp↑-SB and BIOTHOL anaerobic reactors are the two combined biological systems which we have used most widely over many years around the world for beverage industry applications. In particular we have introduced these processes with great success into many of the factories operated by our largest client Coca-Cola and its leading bottlers, as well as many other soft drink producers. We have found that these reactors meet the wastewater treatment and “cost-benefit" requirements of these clients and in turn help them to fully comply with the demands of environmental regulators, as well as in terms of nitrogen, phosphorus and metals removal.
BIOTECS AnUp↑-SB anaerobic reactors are also renowned for achieving the highest levels of efficiency in breweries, thanks to their great ability to cope with significant variations in flow, load, pH, temperature, as well as high levels of solids and toxic substances.
