Primary and secondary sludge can be treated through biological processes with efficiencies ranging from 50 to 60%, in terms of removal of volatile suspended solids.

Generally, where the basic requirement is to mineralise and stabilise, as well as reduce the volume of activated sludge, we would recommend the use of aerobic processes. However, where the need is to increase production of biogas, we would suggest the use of anaerobic reactors such as BIOTECS AnUp↑-C-Series.
